Description
About this space
This is a large home with six bedrooms which fronts on the Cam River. Riverside walking and biking trails head in each direction from the house. It is a short walk to all of Cambridge's main sights, such as the colleges and museums. There are several pubs and restaurants nearby as well as Tesco and Aldi for groceries. An amazing spot!
The space
Our home is newly-built and features an open & spacious floor plan. There are a total of 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
Bedrooms 1 & 2 are masters, very large - both featuring super-king beds and upgraded mattresses.
Bedroom 3 is also quite large and features a king-sized bed.
Bedroom 4 is smaller, but comfortable, features a single bed.
Bedrooms 5 & 6 are on the top level and have trundle style beds. One of these bedrooms features a small balcony which opens up to the home’s best views of River Cam. Both of these bedrooms have trundle beds which allow for 2 guests to use as singlesa double.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the whole house.
Accessibility - there are two steps up into the house, the ground floor is all on one level and there is a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. There are showers in the bathrooms.
Other things to note
Guests should please note - this home does not feature a formal dining room area, there is a breakfast bar in the kitchen. The owners made this decision in order to preserve the open space and roominess in the main living area and to provide two super king master bedrooms. The Living area has one large sofa, seating 4 - 5 and one armchair, folding charis are available but please note if the house is at capacity it will not seat 11 people. Please consider this layout when booking instead of marking the house down in a review later.
Parking: You’ll find ample free parking just 3 blocks along the River Cam. On foot, turn right when facing the river and walk 3 blocks along. This takes less than 5 minutes. When driving, turn down River Lane from Beche Road, Abbey Road does not provide through access. Free parking starts from the bottom of River Lane on Riverside and goes all the way to the end of Riverside.
Alternatively, you can park outside the house after 5pm and before 9am every day. You can also park anywhere around the house and on Riverside and surrounding residential streets on Sunday and Bank Holidays.
In addition, for short drops offs from 9am to 5pm Monday through Saturday, there is a pay for carpark right in front of the house. The small lot is slightly more expensive than on-street parking. You pay at the meterson the app.
A note from the owners:
When we visit Cambridge, we find that we typically enjoy most of our dinner out on the town, frequenting our favourite restaurants and pubs (The Wrestlers and Red Lion top our list).
You’ll notice a bar/table in the kitchen which comfortably seats 2. And what we tend to do when we have larger groups is use the small/portable dining tray tables that you’ll also find neatly stored in the kitchen area. We tend to sit around the couch using those. It has always worked well for us, but if you require a formal dining room, this may not be the house for you.
